Children from NGO Friendship’s schools perform at the inauguration of“Gobeshona 6: Research into Action”
“Gobeshona 6: Research into Action” – a 4-day international conference on climate change research was inaugurated today at its host, Independent University, Bangladesh’s auditorium. The conference is being organized by International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD).
The audience was welcomed by a performance by the students from local NGO Friendship‘s schools from Roumari, Kurigram – a flood-prone region of north-west Bangladesh. The group of students ranged from grades one to higher secondary level.
The performance was a musical designed to raise awareness about disaster preparedness in times of flood. The topics covered within the play included what to do before, during, and after such a natural disaster.
The performers were presented medals and a book by the members of the inaugural panel.
Sharnila Nuzhat Kabir is a 2nd year Environmental Science student at Independent University, Bangladesh. Alongside pursuing her degree, she is the Head of Partnerships at local youth-led social development organization Footsteps Bangladesh.
